The Clinic Was Great!

We had a great clinic this past weekend with Lance Johnston of Lindsay, California.  Lance is a very good clinician, with some good pointers for everyone.  The majority of our time was spent on cattle work, which was what we were all there for!

If you were at the clinic and have any comments, please share your comments with us.

Don't forget that our first show of the season is coming up soon on May 29th!

Hi! I'm interested in getting involved in some cowhorse shows this summer, and I'm just wondering about entry information...
How much is the entry fee? Would I need to enter in advance? Do I need to buy a membership, or is the family one (Clay Ranch) enough? What time does the show start? What classes are you offering?

I hope that's not overwhelming!
Thanks a bunch & hope to talk to you soon,

Hi Ali,

I was going to send out a show notice tonight with some of that information, but I'll give you what I can right now.

Each show will determine its own entry fee, but in the past they have generally been about $60 to $80. It covers the judge, cattle, and a little bit for prize money.

We haven't finalized the details for this show, but I know the plan was to have a 4 event show (Reining, Cutting, Working Cowhorse, and Roping). Best 3 scores of the 4 will be added up to determine overall standings.

Entries should be phoned or emailed to me (Mark Michie) on Tuesday, May 25. I will have the cost details by then. My phone # is 204-637-2104 and email is training@michiequarterhorses.com

The show will be after the team penning. I expect it to start around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. I would go out on a limb and say that it won't start before 4:00 p.m.

Regarding membership, Clay Ranch is a Breeder Member, so you have at least 1 competitor membership included with that. If you have a Family Breeder Membership, then more than one person from your ranch can show under that membership.

Thanks for the questions. Hope to see you at the show!
